ABOUT

ABOUT

Upcycling.  Greengo is focused on reusing portions of and elements found in homes and barns to create innovative lights and chandeliers.

Began salvaging lumber from old structures in 1997, and, in a remodel dumpster, I took note of some peculiar pine.  Over the years, knowing when a house or barn was built, associating the physical characteristics of the wood with various eras began to form patterns.  Of course, pine trees, for example, still exist and grow today, but it is clear that the pine from years past is different from today's.  Across the board, smell, density, grain structure and spacing and maturity has shifted; some species like American chestnut and ash are no longer in current forests.

With nearly 15 tons of reclaimed lumber in stock, all that  need happen is to make it happen.  Am very excited to share these functional pieces and to enjoy their light.

Testimonials

Unique vision and execution with materials that might seem at once obvious, but rare and filled with history and depth that only grow more incredible as you live with these objects. Inspired work- well done.

Rider custom made a table for my dining room in my Queen Anne Victorian.  He used old wood from removed joists of renovation of another building in my block and big pine logs for the legs.  The table is beautiful and outstanding and will outlast me.  I hope for it to be an heirloom for my children and theirs. I truly love it and admire his work.

Rider does beautiful work with repurposed wood. I have a 12 person dining room table that fits together with notches & braces, no hardware. The wood came from an old warehouse in Louisville's West end.

We have the pleasure of working with Rider Wathen on 2 elegant Rosewod and Reclaimed Cypress rolling cabinets, a live edge slab table and more. From the initial consultation to completion Rider’s experience was exceptional. He demonstrated a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism throughout the entire process. The cabinets were beautifully designed and perfectly matched our vision. We highly recommend Rider to anyone looking for quality work.

Rider is a genuine person and unique craftsman. When we started talking about making a few pieces of furniture, his initial interest was learning more about us so that he could try to incorporate a special part of us into each piece. Each project was distinctive and beautiful. We love his work and recommend him highly.
